Interactions between Diffuse Light and Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) Canopy Structure, Simulations of Light Interception in Virtual Canopies

نویسندگان

چکیده

Plant photosynthesis and biomass production are associated with the amount of intercepted light, especially light distribution inside canopy. Three virtual canopies (n = 80, 3.25 plants/m2) were constructed based on average leaf size digitized plant structures: ‘small leaf’ (98.1 cm2), ‘medium (163.0 cm2) ‘big (241.6 cm2). The ratios diffuse set in three gradients (27.8%, 48.7%, 89.6%). simulations interception conducted under different before after normalization incident radiation. With 226.1% more result could increase by 34.4%. However, 56.8% reduced radiation caused increased proportion inhibited advantage terms a 26.8% reduction interception. big-leaf canopy had mutual shading effects, but its larger area 56.2% than small-leaf same conditions. showed higher efficiency penetration per unit area. study implied 3D structural model, an effective tool for quantitative analysis interaction between structure.

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)

Knowing the extent and structure of genetic variation in germplasm collections is essential for the conservation and utilization of biodiversity in cultivated plants. Cucumber is the fourth most important vegetable crop worldwide and is a model system for other Cucurbitaceae, a family that also includes melon, watermelon, pumpkin and squash. Previous isozyme studies revealed a low genetic diver...

Inheritance and quantitative trait locus analysis of low-light tolerance in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.).

The low-light tolerance index was investigated in a set of 123 F2:3 lines during the seedling stage across 2 seasons, and the heredity of low-light tolerance was assessed via different ge-netic analysis methods. The results of the classical analysis showed that low-light tolerance is controlled by an additive-dominant poly-gene, and the polygenic inheritance rate of separate generations was >30...

What is the most prominent factor limiting photosynthesis in different layers of a greenhouse cucumber canopy?

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Maximizing photosynthesis at the canopy level is important for enhancing crop yield, and this requires insights into the limiting factors of photosynthesis. Using greenhouse cucumber (Cucumis sativus) as an example, this study provides a novel approach to quantify different components of photosynthetic limitations at the leaf level and to upscale these limitations to differe...

Assessment of genetic variation in cucumber ( Cucumis sativus L . ) genotypes

In this research, twenty genotypes of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) were studied that were collected from different geographical regions. The experiment was conducted as a randomized complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications in Greenhouse. Data was collected on morphological features, yield and components of yield of cucumber which include: Total fruit yield per pickling, Fruit number pe...

Sequencing cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) chloroplast genomes identifies differences between chilling-tolerant and -susceptible cucumber lines.

Chilling injury in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is conditioned by maternal factors, and the sequencing of its chloroplast genome could lead to the identification of economically important candidate genes. Complete sequencing of cucumber chloroplast (cp)DNA was facilitated by the development of 414 consensus chloroplast sequencing primers (CCSPs) from conserved cpDNA sequences of Arabidopsis (A...
